Activity Books

Activity Books have been developed by the CFA in cooperation with industry leaders. They are available free to Colorado teachers (see teacher resources page) and free as pdf files via download. In addition, sponsors can help make them avaible in classroom sets—please see the donations page to sponsor a classroom.

CFA has developed and distributed:

CFA's Understanding Water activity book, published using a grant from the Department of Public Health & Enviroment 319 education fund, is in its second printing. To fill requests by individual teachers as well as Poudre School District and Denver Public Schools, 15,000 more books are being printed and boxed for shipment. Activities on wastewater treatment were added along with an evaluation form for the student to complete. The water activity book is 72 action-packed pages developed using the Colorado Content Standards. Activities reinforce math, science, geography, vocabulary, writing, visual arts and economics. Students learn about water, the water cycle, water treatment, nonpoint source pollution, conservation, wastewater treatment and importance of water to agriculture.

"The students LOVE the books. I thought it was great to have them, and they really covered a lot of important concepts. Thanks!!"
—Don Mangus, Adams Elementary, 2nd grade

"This book was great. It tied in beautifully with our unit on water and the ocean. We attended the Water Festival which enhanced our learning. I'd like to have enough "Water" books for next year's class if possible. Thank you."
—Kathy Graham, Merino Grade School, 4th grade
